So You Want to Start a Garden
When you were a kid you probably spent lots of time playing in the dirt. You dug holes, sculpted castles, drove matchbox cars around on roughed out tracks. As a child, being allowed to play in the yard may have allowed you to have a grand imagination where you dreamed of adventures in other worlds. Time is limited when we become adults and playing in the dirt becomes a thing of the past. Therefore, many adults will spend countless hours perfecting their garden. When you desire the outdoors for working and playing in the dirt, you will have an excuse because you are a gardener. If you have been thinking about starting your own garden, here are some of the things you should do to ensure that your garden is a success.
Don’t ever let your seedlings dry out completely. Even though it’s true that there are some plants that prefer to grow in dry soul it is also true that those plants still need some water. All seedlings need water to drink. Obviously you don’t need to try to grow your seedlings in mud but they do need at least a little bit of water now and then. How much water you provide to your plants is going to depend upon which types of plants you are trying to raise in your garden. Learn how much water your seedlings will need and how often they will need it before you put them into your garden. You don’t want to let your plants dry out or drown.
Digging in the ground is a fantastic way to loosen up the soil that you will be planting in. If you start digging before the conditions are right you could mess up your garden.
Before you plant anything prepare your garden’s ground. You probably don’t want to hear this, but growing a garden involves more than just putting some seeds in dirt and waiting for them to grow. Before you do any planting you need to prepare the ground in your garden. Clear away rocks and debris. Till the garden’s soil so that it can get enough oxygen. Container and indoor gardens will also need some preparation work before planting can be done.
Starting your own garden is great! Don’t be afraid to admit that you like working the soil and getting dirty.
It reminds you of being a kid. This is one of the main reasons that people are so dedicated to their gardening hobbies. They love growing plants and the work associated with it!
