You Can Have a Better Garden

Gardening is something that anybody can do. Even those who are sure that they have no gardening talent can grow and raise plants. As time goes on you will learn how to grow a bunch of different types of plants both edible and non edible-you can even grow trees! People fail at gardening because they assume that growing a garden is easy. It will get easier as you work at it but in the beginning there will be lots of new things to learn. Gardening is more than dropping seeds in the ground and pouring water over the top of them every few days. Here are some helpful hints that will help increase your chances of growing a great garden.

You should use mulch to keep the pests away from your plants and add nutrients to the soil of your garden. Most weeds aren’t able to grow in mulch. Mulch is a great way to keep your garden healthy and cut down on your maintenance workload. Mulch is popular for a number of reasons.

One of the most popular “starter” plants for a new gardener is the tomato. Growing and caring for tomatoes is quite easy. There are very few places that a tomato plant will not grow. You can grow tomatoes in almost every single type of garden. These plants are so hardy you can plant them in a container and they’ll still grow. They don’t require a whole lot of care. These make great first plants because once they have matured and their blossoms are ripe you can eat them! Eating the fruits of your labor has never been more true than when you grow a tomato plant in your garden. As a gardener, you need to make friends with bees. You might not like the idea of having to deal with bees, but they are fantastic helpers for gardeners. Bees are how pollen gets spread around your garden (which helps the plants grow). Pollen is needed for plants to flower or bear fruit. So, basically, you need to get used to seeing and dealing with bees. You might even think about taking steps to make your garden more “bee friendly.” One of the easiest ways to attract bees to your garden is to plant tomatillo plants; bees love tomatillos. You should plant at least one tomatillo plant to attract the bees and then, if you and your family enjoy tomatillos as well, plant a second tomatillo plant for you-this way you won’t have to fit the bees for access to the plant.

Instead of pesticides use aphids. Pesticides are awful for your plants and the environment. For people who are growing spices, herbs, veggies or fruit pesticides are a terrible idea. The best way to combat plant eating pests is to let some ladybugs take up residence in your garden. The ladybugs won’t damage your garden because they eat the other pests what would have done that. Ladybugs and other pest eaters can be great for your garden. Pest eaters like ladybugs are more environmentally friendly than the alternative. You won’t accidentally ingest them. They help you keep the pests away from your garden!

A lot of people think that gardening is an intricate process. If you haven’t ever grown plants before, starting a garden of your very own can feel intimidating and it is easy to tell yourself that you’d rather do something else. If you can find the right tips, though, beginning your first garden won’t feel so intimidating. The fact of the matter is that, if you are willing to do the work, there is no reason that you shouldn’t have your very own thriving garden!
